Order of the Arch
BVU’s most esteemed giving society recognizes donors who make a financial investment of $1,000 or greater in a given fiscal year. The Order of the Arch represents a generosity of spirit, connecting leadership donors of today to the determined supporters who sprang to the aid of Buena Vista University when fire destroyed the University’s main building in 1956. Today, the Victory Arch incorporates the original stones from Old Main’s entryway. It serves as a campus monument and is a symbol of those who helped save the college, as well as to those who perpetuate that commitment today.
Loyal Y. Hays Society
Named for Buena Vista’s first President, the Loyal Y. Hays Society recognizes donors for cumulative lifetime gifts of $100,000 and greater. Members show a deep commitment to BVU’s mission and vision. President Hays shared his vision for Buena Vista, that of a strong liberal arts college on the shores of Storm Lake. When breaking ground for the construction of Old Main, President Hays said, “We are now to break this soil in which there has never been a plow nor spade, fresh as from the hand of God, and plant here the seed of a college which under God’s care and our consecrated toil may bring harvest that the ages shall gather and garner.” We are blessed to continue as we build upon that tradition, gathering and educating the servant-leaders of tomorrow.
Z.Z. White Heritage Society
Named in memory of Zeno Z. White, an alumnus, trustee and benefactor, the Z.Z.White Heritage Society recognizes individuals who have made estate or planned gift commitments to BVU. Knowledge of such plans allows the University to express gratitude to the donor within his or her lifetime. Membership affords the donor an opportunity to affirm the BVU heritage and to make a statement of support to others.
